Time for a new sled

I needed a larger sled for the SS for an uocoming piece and have been annoyed with my existing sled due to the lack of an ZCI insert. So today it
was build a new sled day. It is done except for the five cut adjustment.

Is that permanent or do you remove it for the other SS operations? It must weight a ton...

It is mostly permanent. That SS stays set up in that mode 99% of the time. It has the Incra fence on it so once in a while when I need to set up a second TS operation I will take it off but that is not very often. I use it daily as a cut off saw. I cannibalized an Incra 5000 miter sled for the fence to give an accurate cut off fence. My workbench is about 4' directly behind that machine so if needed I can slide it off onto the workbench. I knew it would be heavy but I wanted it to have a 1" thick base for jig set up purposes. I laminated two pieces of 1/2" ply together on the workbench so it is very flat and stable. I lost a little depth of cut but it will still cut 8/4 material and that will suffice. My only regret is that that is not my PP machine so for thick hardwoods it is a little under powered. For those instances I have a sled for my big TS but that is also not very often. Most of the time I am cutting ply or 4/4 wood and it has plenty of power for that.
