10" Craftsman Compound Miter Saw blew apart in my face

Post by everettdavis »

Thank the Good Lord above not a scratch on me.

About to cross cut a 2x4 and had it clamped for the cut. Just as I squeezed the trigger and before I started down with the blade, the laser mechanism came apart wedging in the shroud and the whole thing exploded in my face.

I felt pieces of the plastic hit me in the face and torso, but not a scratch, whelp mark, not even a red mark. Don't know what Guardial Angels eat, but mine deserves a feast tonight. The blade is still tight and secure.

You are lucky on two counts and unlucky on one. The bad is that your saw is damaged. The good is that you are not damaged, and you are rid of the laser.

I have a miter saw with a laser on it. The laser is crap. It is much easier and more accurate to line up the cut with the blade than it is to attempt to line it up to the laser.
