I'm pretty sure the Model 10s were ALL the same.
If anything, the MW edition has a different nameplate.
MW was the first retailer to get large amounts, and I'll
bet I've had a few in my day. Never seen any difference.
For your last question, ALL the major parts are interchangeable.
The E extension table will not fit on the ER table bracket, and
the E main table mount needs to be on the E model table.
the extension and main tables will switch, but parts of them need
to be on the right edition. (You can put either table on either
machine, but can't mix parts on the table assemblies.) Hope
that makes sense.

Re: 1956 Model 10 ER FOR SALE
10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.
Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.

There is NO MW version of a Model 10. MW merely wasw the prtime retailer for it.
No MW did not do the 'Mark 2' fiasco with the '10'.

You are absolutely correct.JPG wrote:There is NO MW version of a Model 10. MW merely wasw the prtime retailer for it.

Read the history of the machine. MW ordered 100's of machines for the Christmas season of 1947. Magna had to scramble to fill the order. That was the first order for the 10E as Magna had just started making them a few months earlier.
Again, there is NO MW version of the model 10. They were the first company to sell them in mass. They are all the same.

I guess I would have to disagree somewhat. Those 100s are "MW versions" even though allegedly built to print identical versions of 10Es.jsburger wrote:You are absolutely correct.JPG wrote:There is NO MW version of a Model 10. MW merely wasw the prtime retailer for it.

The Shopsmiths are all pretty much the same too even though they were built in different factories. The changes that were made were marketed as "improvements". Greenies, Goldies, smooth Grays and Textured Grays, so what's in color.
Question though: Was there a season or so when Montgomery Wards marketed a version of the Mark???

So do tell us what the differences are between a "MW Version" and one bought directly from Magna. Can you tell us what to look for on the machine? It would be interesting to know what the versions are of the five 10ER's I have here. BTW, when those first machines were delivered to MW Magna only had one factory.dusty wrote:I guess I would have to disagree somewhat. I could be wrong but I believe the MK 2 was a true MW machine and only available through them.
