Aftermarket Fence for 510?

A new 510 extrusion is $63.80 p/n 515328.

If it were me, I'd dissemble, mount an sanding disk and square up the ends (using the miter gauge to hold it steady). It will shorten it a bit at the outfeed end which means the outfeed clamp will be a little more out in space than currently, but I would think not so much that you couldn't adjust the tension. You've got little to lose.

Can we assume you have used these two screws to "square" things? And either can't get it square or it doesn't stay?

Yes, it is a snare drum, but I mainly make stringed instruments.

If I trued up the mating surface, then the screws underneath won't pull the extrusion tight. In other words, it will be left loose which is counterproductive.

Yes, I have two screws, but when tightened, they cause the angle and there's not enough room to shim.

I could certainly try to true up the the end. The question is, do I sand the aluminum extrusion or on the mating surface on the locking mechanism?

Also, how much play is there when the screws underneath or reattached? Are they self centering? It seems like I had no adjustment when I messed with them.

Ryobi BT3000 or BT3100 rail and fence will work with 510. But you need to buy some special mounting hardware that is designed by one of member. chech this post. https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/wood ... t9280.html

Nice work! Even though I don't build drums, your method of making these perfect looking cylinders would be interesting to see. You should do a photo spread on one.
