Re: Platform bed question
My daughter wanted a platform bed with about 15 inches of storage shelving under it. She did not want a headboard or footboard, just the platform. I used 3/4 inch plywood for it. Here is the bed without the adjustable shelves after painting it her color choice. The center piece of plywood has a slight twist but the weight of the mattress holds it down without adding fasteners.

Re: Platform bed question
possible profiles
Step 1
Well I have made first step, purchased plywood and rough cut to size. I'm waiting for my daughter to decide on the top rail profile and the legs. I have given her 4 samples of top rail profiles.
1. 1-1/2 flush
2. 1-1/2 recessed so mattress sits inside frame
3. 3/4 flush
4. 3/4 recessed so mattress sits inside frame
I will cap the plywood edge with either banding or 1 by. Here are first photos.
Cleats will be 1-1/2 on profiles that are even and additional 3/4 in addition to offset 3/4 ones.
