The SS bandsaw is a great saw. Just remember that it has only a 6-inch depth of cut like most other small table-sized bandsaws, and it only has 11" wheels.

Most stand-alone small bandsaws start at 14-inches and go larger from there. This provides more cutting options and for cutting wider workpieces.

I have a SS bandsaw for small work and also do a lot of ripping with it using the SS extension tables. I also have a JET 18-inch bandsaw with 12-1/2" of depth-of- cut. I use it to cut my larger woodturning stock.

Both saws get a lot of work and I am happy with both. I found that the 18-inch doesn't take up much more room than a stand-alone 14-inch bandsaw. If you are planning on just working on most furniture size stock then the SS bandsaw will be a good start for you. If you will be planning on doing a lot of woodturning in the future, you might want to think about investing in a larger saw to start with for its stronger motor and greater cutting capacity.
