Purchased a used Mark V need help to ID some parts

Post by JohnL »

Hello all,

I just purchased a used Mark V serial number 161921 which I have found to be a 1983 model 500. The owner could not tell me much about it other than it was his fathers who passed away and it has not been used for almost 20 years. I have started to do the necessary maintenance ie: lubrication and alignment adjustments. It appears to be in overall great shape. I am looking forward to starting a few projects with this new addition the the shop.
The package included a Mark V on casters, table saw with fence and several blades, band saw, scroll saw, belt sander, 3 pad sanders (12, 8 and 6 inch),dado set, lathe gouges and tool rest along with an assortment of other bits and pieces.
I have spent hours and hours reading up on this machine and the accessories available for it but I am still left trying to identify some parts. I have attached a few photos in the hopes that someone can help me figure out what I have and what I need to make these parts complete.

I believe this is the router (Shaper) fence but it looks like it is missing some parts along with the other items I need to identify.

Thanks in advance for the help.
If anyone is in the Long Island area I would be very interested in talking with you so I can get a better understanding of how to use some of this equipment and see what upgrades I should make.

I have added this photo with numbers to correspond to each item to make discussion easier.

Item 1 is a MK V miter gauge fence. Item 2 is a MK V shaper/drum sander fence missing the fence faces. The rest are not SS parts and are unknown to me.

BTW, please upload pictures to the forum. That way they will always be available here. Photobucket is not the way to it.

Also, welcome!!! You will find a huge wealth of knowledge here.

This one will not disappear when Photobucket decides to purge the original. ;)

Although the shaper fence appears to be missing a second adjustment 'knob', it was not included with the Mark 5/V 500 version.

Welcome to the madness! :)

Aha! I always thought my Greenie's other one got lost. Looking closer, I see there's no track for an adjustment knob's retaining collar on the other side. Thanks for the info.

Did you get a Sears belt sander with the SS? I saw a picture of part no. 7 on a Sears belt sander with a SS for sale in Norfolk VA. Maybe some of the other parts go to it as well.

Great sleuthing, Brenda! :)

I Googled the model number shown in the CL pic, and found an exploded view of the sander on the Sears part site. It does indeed show a couple of the other mystery parts.

I would agree, that table looks the same.
Nice find
If anyone needs any of these parts you know where to find them.
