Today in the shop (new project laser positioning)

I have the older gray scroll saw but with the upgraded blade change system:

When using the levers I have the blade popping out all the time. I'm finding that to be an aggravation and a big waste of time. I have more projects to do and would like to understand why I seem to have the problem a lot more then others.

I've changed the levers out for allen head bolts and that works for me but it is not tool less and not how I was lead to believe this should work.

I have not tried to ruff up the blade ends, I'll do that on the next project. I also thought about the lever arm extension but if I have to do that then why use the levers since the t-allen wrench I know works and both of those get away from the tool-less bases of the upgrade.

I snapped a picture of the two parts in question, that set screw and the lever. Both seem to have been ground flat and came that way from the factory. If someone could take a look at theirs and do a visual that would be great.

I don't see how any other parts would be involved but feel free to question that.

I set up the scroll saw on one of my non-powerpro machines and did some more cutting today. I did that so I could leave the machine set up as a scroll saw for a few days. That is the nice thing about having several machines. When I get my shorty put together it will be ideal for these projects. Next summer I hope.....

First let me say I also went back to the lever to give it another try. As you might recall my last adventure was less then usable with the blade coming loose way too many times. Today I had zero problems. Not sure what the differences were but it worked fine. It could be the fact I purchased a ball end allen wrench to use in case I was going away from the lever........

So I'll leave the lever for a while and see if it or me acts up again.

What did I cut, well another vinyl record bit the dust and became something new.
