Aftermarket Fence for 510?

I would have to see excellent pix of both the end of the fence extrusion and the 'head' where the extrusion abuts before I would make any suggestion.

The fence extrusion appears as if it were dropped and malformed prior* to mounting to the head.

*that assumed no third parties involved.

The question I have, is does the gap between the 'head' and the fence extrusion change when clamped(fence extrusion moves relative to the 'head').

If so, I do not understand why shimming is not possible.

Ryobi BT3000 or BT3100 rail and fence will work with 510. But you need to buy some special mounting hardware that is designed by one of member. chech this post. https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/wood ... t9280.html

I have a BT3000 SMT and can attest to its adapability (though I use mine on a 520) and accuracy. I plan to now adapt it to the 510 and use it there on my Shorty. However, it does nothing to solve the 510 rip fence alignment issue. It is, afterall, a SMT attachment.

The Ryobi rails that would normally be used with this SMT allow the use of the Ryobi rip fence. I had the entire setup as a working setup. I was performing an evaluation for a member who was offering kits to adapt the entire Ryobi system to the 510 or 520. I completed the evaluation but then returned all of the setup. The decision at that time was purely financial. I regret, to this day, not paying what was being asked for the kit and keeping it. If I had it to do over again, the decision would be different.

I've made a few dulcimers, but haven't bothered with an acoustic guitar. Seems like A LOT of work. I know that sounds silly when you look at some of my projects, but acoustics are a different kind of construction, assembly, etc. Plus, it can't be easy in uncontrolled climates.
