How is the planer mounted to the cabinet?
I can't see through the front door, the cross piece the motor is mounted to is in the way. and to get to the back door would require major reorganization of the shop.

That said, the planer sits on the top of the cabinet, and I presume it is bolted from underneath using the holes where the clamp handle that normally holds it to the way tubes would go.

Re: Custom made Power Stand - OVER KILL

As for the stand. it looks to be professionally constructed. My only concern would be that it might be top heavy. Wish I knew what the overall dimensions were.

If center of gravity is an issue, that could easily be resolved by building is using 1/2" or 3/4" MDF. Yes, MDF. Weight is sometimes good.

Not always. however. I built a TV cabinet using a really nice cabinet grade MDF veneer. My wife hates it because it is almost impossible for her to move on the carpet floor.
The stand Tomsalwasser posted the link to looks pretty sturdy and the weight of the motor should help with the center of gravity.

The stands that mine are mounted on are massive, all 1/2' and 3/4" plywood, and they both have a bulkhead in the center so no racking. No chance of being top heavy, they don't even roll on the castors without some effort.

The bandsaw cabinet is 34"x22"x 29" (not including the castors) (the top is a bit larger).

The planer cabinet is 37 1/2"x24"x34 1/2" (not counting the castors).

Put some teflon glides on TV stand, to make it easier to move on carpet, unless of course you are not a fan of having the furniture rearranged for no particular reason. (I can sympathise) ;)
