No projects today?
No projects today, only shop cleaning! Why not? Because I used to be a runner. I could run sub 55 1/4 miles, 220 halfs. Ran eight miles a day! That was over 40years ago! Well on Christmas day we were walking the dogs and one slipped his leash from my wife’s hand and took off! My son’s girlfriend tried to run after him, but was loosing ground, so I naturally took up the chase. I was moving faster than I have moved in the last two decades! At 59, i thought this was pretty outsanding- until my left quads blew into smithereens! I hit the pavement at full speed and barrel rolled several times before coming to a stop. Results: left leg out of commission, several bruised or cracked ribs, pride intact! I can walk ok if i’m careful of which leg to lead with, but breathing is still tough. Having spasms in the lower rib area. I will be in my shop, but for safety sake will not be using any power tools today! The only pain meds I can take are the over the counter type, allergic to anything related to oxy!

Re: No projects today?
I feel your pain, Chris!
I’m your age, and had a very similar experience early last spring. My 17 year old high-school athelete son and I decided to take advantage of a lovely early-spring afternoon, and play our first tennis game of the year. At 6’ 8”, he’s bigger and quicker than ever. For the first time, I had to dig really deep to compete with him. We were having fun, and one match turned into two. I was moving faster than I had in a very long time, but beat him I did.
And that was also my last tennis game of the year. I had strained my right foot, and developed plantar fasciitis. The dang foot is just now getting back to normal. I hobbled around last spring & summer like an old man.
I’m still trying to figure out what activities I should do at my age — which is apparently now a subset of what I can do.

I don't want to talk about. It brings back too many memories. Hope you heal well and fast.

At 75 I can run like hell for 100'... At 200' somebody should have already dialed 911.
If everything is going right I can cut a full pickup load of firewood without stopping. I seem to cut a lot of half loads this year.
The back support they fitted me with works wonders for me but it does limit air intake some.

Re: No projects today?
Dusty, I don't know how to act my age. I've never been this age before! When I turned 50 I marked the occasion by doing 5 back flips in the front yard (I was sober!), and vowed to do 6 at 60! We shall see, a lot has happened since then!
