At least this year.

I love the twisted fence post. Diana and I were just laughing this morning as we unloaded some firewood. I had cut a 4' piece of a fallen limb in half that had laid on the ground for maybe 2 or 3 years or more and tossed it in the load. My number one rule for firewood is that it must be "flammable"... Otherwise I will burn about anything. :) As we unloaded the truck I picked up the gnarliest half of the piece and said "I'm trying to decide whether to put this in the wood rack or to clean it up and varnish it".  :o :D
I need to set up a separate little spot for "saved" firewood. I have a small batch of hollow sections I have saved to make squirrel nest boxes and some smaller ones for birdhouses. I have other gnarly pieces that just look cool and a number of future walking sticks. I also have a small batch of slightly longer pieces that I have split out of bigger stuff and sat back to dry for making tool handles. The older ones are now maybe about 3 or 4 years old.

Here is a picture of that piece of wood I mentioned above. I'm afraid it doesn't show up as well in the picture.
