Help identifying missing part on lower saw guard / retainer
Can anyone clarify what part # these brass pieces are that the retainer screws are screwing into? This is a 500 series lower saw Guard. First pic is what mine looks like (notches are empty). Second pic is what came from Shopsmith (collar/retainer and 2 screws only). Third pic is what someone on another forum posted what should be in those notches. Seems I am missing those brass pieces, but no one so far has been able to identify exactly what they are or what part # they are.

Re: Help identifying missing part on lower saw guard / retainer
I don't see those parts called out so it is possible that the only way to get them is part of the assembly. You can call shopsmith and ask.

then to saw guards for the 500.

Re: Help identifying missing part on lower saw guard / retainer
It looks like you are dealing with the Retrofit Guard System for the 500. Years back I installed that Saw Guard System Retrofit Kit (part 505875) on my old Greenie. Today, after reading your question, I pulled out the instruction sheet that came with the Kit. The sheet has a parts diagram and interestingly the two brass pieces are not shown on the diagram. They are definitely in place on the guard on my Shopsmith, though. It looks like they should be shown in the section called "Inner Guard, Bottom", which is Part 22 on the drawing. This leads me to believe that Ed Reible is correct and the brass pieces are part of the Inner Guard, Bottom, part # 513515, which itself, according to the price/parts list that Ed linked to, is a part of the the Lower Saw Guard Assembly, part # 513484.. I would absolutely call Shopsmith to confirm this before placing the order. Hope this is helpful.
