Grizzley type flap sander

Post by robinson46176 »

Three of my BIL's have one of these Grizzley sanders (picture below) and really like them. One of them bought his back when they were about $140. Now they are about $300...
With a shop full of SS's I don't need to buy another motor to drive a wheel. :p :) Trouble is, I can't find a flap wheel like this (large and sturdy) selling separately. About all I find are really cheaply made plastic things. I'm pretty cheap and don't have to have the very best but I do kind of like to find something somewhere in the middle.
Anybody found something like that?

It looks like you can buy just the flap head assembly from Grizzly.

I have a Sanding Mop from Stockroom Supplies, and I like it, They are designed for wood only and can be assembled differently to make them more or less flexible. I don't think it is really the same animal as the Grizzly however.

Here is a demo for the Sanding Mop

Thanks Ron, that is exactly what I have been looking for.
The next thing is always of course: Is the cost of the part 95% of the price of the complete machine...
The good news here seems to be that the part price is actually very logical.

Thanks again...

Grizzly also sells just the brushes so you could make your own if you were inclined and can talk one of your BNL's to allow the use of one of theirs for a pattern.

I have looked at a Sanding Mop at Stockroom Supply but Klingspor has 5/8" motor arbor that they offer for the Sanding Mop to be built on. I have thought about getting one to use with the SS. http://www.woodworkingshop.com/product/cl10014/
