Evening all, I have a chance to buy a mortise & hold down for my mark V 500, now my queston is, will one from a 10 E work with the mark V 500,,

JUST guessing, but I'd say NO. The nw one only works on the MarkV's.
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders, molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

If you have access to an actual view or photo then you should have a good idea by looking at the one at the shopsmith site or catalog and comparing that one to the for sale one.
If you have the orginal fence for the 500 it has a hole in top and the mounting hold down fits in that hole for its mounting. If you got the upgraded fence with the t-slot on top then it needs to attach to that using a t-nut.
The older version can be drilled and tapped to work ie to attach to a t-nut but it is a bit of a task...
I think you might be able to just buy the bar but I'm not sure of that, a call to shopsmith might be in order.

Just happened to be doing a bit of research into 10E's and ER's. If you can view the two photos of the mortising attachment - yes they do look the same.

Thanks for all the good info, these two look alike, I'm thinking that they hook to the fence the same, I guess the only thing I was worried about now is if the mortises were the same radious in hooking to the shopsmith, I'm assuming they do...
Thanks...

i've drilled and tapped several of the mortise hold down rods without any difficulty. i put a 3/8"-16 by 3/4" long set screw in the rod leaving about half of it stick out. then they can be used on any shopsmith. however the newer rods are not expensive if you have other items to order. otherwise the shipping is more than the rod.
