I have an NordicTrack Recumbent Bike that's about 8 years old and works well for me. It takes the strain off my knees and back and has a pulse sensor in the Handgrip that helps with a general heart rate trend. Moving around and changing your grip a bit can affect the readings, but it is there.

Obviously there are other tools for monitoring your heart rate etc.

I also have an older BowFlex XTL retrofitted with the safety recall updates

They are pretty good and indoors so available regardless of weather.

I do have a heavy bag as well, but I don't use it as often.
