Well that didn't work well..............

"We're sorry. We can't proceed with your request for a Veteran ID card because we can't confirm your eligibility right now."

Where I have I heard that before????? Oh yea every time I try doing any of this vet stuff. I just love it.

I waded through their garbage dump a couple of days ago. It let me in and then ran me in circles for an hour or so registering and proving my vet status. After that was all done, nothing happened. It is typical government incompetency.

Well, I don't know what the problem is with some of you. I went through the process even though I don't need one and it worked just fine. It took just a few minutes and this is where it ended up.

I think it may have to do with your separation date. If your DD214 is dated prior to the 1980's (unsure of the precise date) it has not been digitized into a retrieval capability for the VA to verify your service. They have to see a physical copy of your DD214 (faxed or sent via snail mail) to verify your service. I ran into this when I applied for a medical card. It took an extra two or three weeks for that process to complete.

I sent them a digital copy of my DD214 and they still ran me in circles until I was dropped completely from the site. It is what we called SNAFU in the Marines.
The VA definitely is -------Situation Normal All Fouled Up.

Getting all five correct is impolite and might offend some of the nice people here.

I've been trying since November to get mine and have gotten bounced from one place to another. Currently I have been sent to DEERS since they did not verify my service and from there I have been sent to IRIS who have now told me they will be back in touch with me in five business days but not to expect to hear from them for 2 to 3 weeks due to the volume they are receiving.

Is that not 'self contradictory'?

Orrr does it take them 2-3 weeks to get 5 days business done? :D

Offensive, yes. But so very true.
