10er speed changer question.
Finally getting all the equipment up & running after along hiatus and can't find the 10er speedchanger belts I packed away for a move. I can't seem to find a reference to the correct size belts. Does anyone know those sizes? Thanks

Re: 10er speed changer question.
'Correct' sizes are 22.5 and 25.5. They need to be 1/2" belts.rjent wrote:Contact Skip at https://www.mkctools.com/10erparts.htm. However these days finding full 1/2" belts in 'half inch' sizes seems impossible.
Skip sells goodyear 4L belts in 23 and 26 sizes. * Getting cogged belts helps since the pulleys are small (they are more flexible).
* correction - 22 and 25!!!

Re: 10er speed changer question.
I use 22 and 25 inch belts on all the speed changers I have restored for their Model 10's and they work fine. Read the PDF on Speed Changer Belt Info in Dennis' post above. Getting it setup properly is important. Plain belts are okay but the cogged belts are much better. Below is the chart for the Speed Changer speeds.

Re: 10er speed changer question.
Before I get into the meat of this...is there a way to get rid of that annoying Shopsmith pop up asking for my name, address, etc?
I decided not to wait and order some belts because I found some link belt in a box of parts. I made up the proper sizes & tried that set up. It works just fine and runs smooth & quiet.
I'm just wondering if anyone uses link belts on their machines. I seem to remember reading some time back that guys were worried about excessive wear on the pulleys, but that seemed more opinion than fact, so I put one into my 520 about 3 years ago. I use that machine a lot and decided to monitor the wear whenever I lubed the shieves. I see no indication of excess wear (or any wear) since switching to the link belt. Also, it seems to run smoother and quieter.
Also, harbor Freight has their version of the link belt that is a lot cheaper and works just as well. That's what went into my 520.
