After weeks of deep freeze temps, it was almost spring-like last Friday and Saturday. But now we're back to sub-freezing temps and snow. I planned poorly and ran out of kerosene for my heater on the boat, but before things got too cold inside I managed to get the last of the galley pantry panels cut and fitted.

My fancy schmancy marine air conditioners arrived a while back, so this article is a review of those units. While overall build quality is very good, there are a few things that were done a bit sloppily, IMO. Fortunately, Flagship raised the issues with their production line, so hopefully future customers won't have to deal with work-arounds.

Also, GREAT NEWS! I finally found my other raw water inlet for my main engines! I'd lost the danged thing a year or more ago, and had about given up hope. These are straight threaded, and I had to have the threads cut on a lathe. It wouldn't have been a huge sum of money to have another one made, but I KNEW it was around somewhere. I haven't been posting as much lately because I've been having more problems with my truck and the shop that rebuilt the transmission, during which they also destroyed my engine. In spite of my life still reminding me of a country western song, I'm making progress on the boat. I did some veneer work on the salon entry panels. They turned out pretty nice!

Between the super cold winter and my truck STILL being on the fritz, things haven't been progressing as quickly as I'd like. But I did get the pantry panels varnished, and pantry #1 is pretty close to being installed. It's turning out pretty nice.

Cold overnight temps are slowing down my assembly process for cabinet panels. I'm having to keep the panels clamped together for 2~3 days before the epoxy sets up, and I keep running out of clamps. I don't want to buy more since the winter will be over soon, but it's definitely putting the brakes on progress.

With that said, I got another galley pantry section installed and my black water pump-out plumbing is fitted tight to the hull framing.

I got most of the last pantry section installed. With the chilly temps, epoxy just doesn't kick fast enough. But it's looking pretty good, and the missus is pleased.

Somebody's kid keeps flipping the Season switch from Winter to Spring and back again. I suppose that's better than just being in deep winter, when the epoxy doesn't kick at all.

Anyway, I got another insulated panel cut, fitted, and installed. "Progress"

It looks like spring has sprung. Hopefully, the epoxy will start curing faster than it has the last month or so during the nasty, cold winter. I got one toe rail duct to the engine room cut and dry-fitted, then slathered all sides of the panels with epoxy. The duct mostly moves air, but water can also get into the duct, so I've got to make sure the wood I use here is fully sealed.

I got the last pantry panels installed. These are removable to give access to the plumbing behind them. I also got another plywood panel cut, insulated, and installed in the salon. And the worst of winter is finally over, so the epoxy is curing faster. Next thing you know, I'll be complaining about the heat in the tent. lol
