Oh brother Shopsmith messes up again

Post by reible »

Back in October I attended a demo and ordered the tailstock arbor since my brother needed one I sent him mine and put the order in. While I was at it I ordered the quick index hub/handle set for one of my other machines.

On October 18 2017 the order appeared and when I checked:

The tailstock arbor was in stock but the quick index set was not. Then when I check again it was like that for a long while. Then I had a problem accessing the status and when shopsmith got that working again the quick index stuff was available but the tailstock arbor was not.

The on February 8, 2018 Shopsmith called. My credit card had been compromised at the and a new one issued, so I proved them with the new number and was assured that my order would be shipping soon. She also verified the number was valid.

Today I get a letter saying my credit card has been declined..... now get this "to avoid further delays" etc etc. Now if they had just product and just shipped it with in a reasonable amount of time the other number would have worked but nooooooo they could do that.

So are they saying my new credit card number isn't working or the old one that we had talked about on the phone???? I know my card is working I just ordered $540.00 worth of Festool tools and they are shipping today. I was out shopping today as well and the card works so I'm thinking they are talking about the old card number but we already took care of that on the phone.

OK now they go on to say that my almost 4 month old order I have been waiting on will be cancelled in 10 business days unless I contact them.

That takes a lot of nerve to not once mention the 4 months of wait time I've put up with, the fact that this should have already been resolved with the phone call on the 8th.

So I look up the order again today. The tailstock arbor still back ordered and now the quick index stuff is again on back order...................................................................................................... At this point I'm really questioning if I want this aggravation anymore.

So I'm not going to call. If they cancel the order so be it. At this point I have had it. If they cancel the order I'll go to ebay and get the tailstock arbor and just do without the quick index stuff.

I guess the only thing I can say is that given Bob Folkerth's recent message I would not give up. It appears that your old credit card number is in the system somewhere. Most sellers don't store your credit card number unless you ask them to. This all seems strange vis-a-vis the credit card number problem you have had.

Did I mention they have nothing to ship so why do they care about the number at this time? Well they did have the items it is just that they did not save any of them for me and my 4 month old order................ I guess they sold them to others????

In the good old days the tailstock arbor would have shipped right after the order was placed because it was in stock, the other parts would then have been on back order. If that had happened I'd have the tail stock and then when the quick index parts came in they could have called for a new number and maybe I see them shortly. As it is I have nothing to show for the wait except well some hesitation to make another order.

Some one once said words are nice but actions speak louder.

When I went to check my Discover Card information (which I do several times a month) I noticed a pending charge from Shopsmith. So it looks like they finally got my credit card information fixed. I also got my hopes up that they were about to ship...............

Looking at my check order status some things have stayed the same, like the part where my order is from Oct.18 so it is now officially 4 months and a day old. The items that were out of stock are still out of stock so no change there.

They did add some new information, see top left in image below.

Hopefully the 'order status' is the last thing updated.

It will be interesting to see how they 'catch up' with my order for the jointmatic slide.

I do hope RLF is providing more than 'direction' to the staff. i.e. the means to achieve the result.

I looked up my longest outstanding order from shopsmith. I order placed on 3/25/2012 and it shipped 5/17/2013. That is 418 days. I don't know if that is a record but if not it has to be a top contender.

Update this morning, and it looks like good news for me and shopsmith.

So if the status is right then they have the parts now and it should just be a matter of packing and shipping them to me. Of course this might mean I'm in a cue for this process and it could still be days????? I will check EOD results to know if it has changed by then.

End Of Day = EOD in case that term is new to you.
