I an using forstner bits from MCS -- see attached pictures. Are these considered WAVE designs?

I totally agree. The Fisch wave cutter bits ( made in Austria ) that I got in January are very impressive. I have not used them a lot but I don't expect any different performance than I have all ready seen.


There is always something else that we need (or at least need to wish for). :rolleyes: :D
I had not heard of these. I have not been to a woodworking show nor taken any woodworking magazines for several years and find that not seeing the ads regularly is letting me become unaware of what new things are available.
Were these particularly expensive compared to older style Forstners or just a reasonable amount higher. I understand that "reasonable" is subjective... :)

They are not any more expensive than top of the line old style bits but they are at the top end of the price scale. I bought the 16 piece set. The going price for that set even on Amazon is $450. Woodpeckers had them on sale sometime around last August for a Dec/Jan delivery. Their price was $299.99 so I jumped on it. Fisch pioneered that style and has a patent pending on the design.

The largest size Fisch bit I see is 2 1/8". I need 2 1/2".
