Pop-ups are worse than Spam

Pop-ups are worse than Spam
I notice the annoying, inconsiderate, useless and disruptive registration pop-ups are back. I am disappointed that the site management has chosen to revive this practice, which has been unanimously disliked by forum users in the past. To me, this makes using this site a much less experience. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Log off, clear your cookies/history - log on... You'll get peppered with the pop up! Very annoying since I already am registered. Every time I hit a link it pops up.
BUT- Shopsmith provided this site for free, and it is their marketing tool!

Re: Pop-ups are worse than Spam
I am confused, maybe. Pop-ups. I have NO popups that could be attributed to Shopsmith. I do experience popups on other sites but not the two Shopsmith sites.

It is the same pop up we all were getting a while back when SS upgraded the web site. It would pop up every time you loaded a new page even here on the forum. I don't remember what all it wanted but some of it was your personal information. we all complained loudly to turn it off for the forum and SS did. I don't get it on the main web site either now.
Interestingly, my wife got us a new computer for for the shop last month and that pop up shows up randomly on it. I am not sure what is going on. The new machine runs Windows 10 like the one in the house and we use the same version of Firefox on it.
It is random and doesn't happen very often to be really annoying but still...

I don't get any popups at all. I run the most recent version of Firefox with Ublock and it stops any annoying ads for me.

Re: Pop-ups are worse than Spam
I never see popups here. This particular laptop is running Windows 10 and the latest Firefox. I don't know if it will help you but if you go to the menu button on the extreme right and go to options then to privacy and security and scroll about 2/3rds of the way down there is a tic-box to block popups...
My other laptop is running Ubuntu Linux and I usually use Opera browser on it. I never see any popups on it either.

Secretly Provided Advertising Mail (SPAM) is bad but I don't have pop-ups either. Scrambled eggs, chopped spam and jalapenos all fried together in a camp skillet over an open fire in the deep woods on bivouac.

Re: Pop-ups are worse than Spam
If you clear your cookies and cache to where you must sign in to the forum like it is your first time, there is a pop up which offers you email ads from Shopsmith. You can fill it out and never see it again or you can close it and you may see it again in the session but in subsequent sessions the pop up will not appear. At least that is how it works for me.
It is one pop up that is repeated under certain situations trying to insure that the forum user is going to get email from shopsmith. Once you respond to it! You stop seeing it.
