This guy has some fine woodworking projects, and very interesting articles. I'd heard several times that The Parthenon isn't totally square/plumb/regular. This set of articles (the Part III on "Parsing the Parthenon" is newest) really puts it in an interesting light:

That was fascinating.
Our first trip to Europe, I was pacing the distances of some of the "courtyards" and found that they were different widths (narrower at the back from the entrance). I asked our guide why and we were told that they did that to give the building a larger look. The back buildings were even shorter than the front. I wonder now, about the angle of the walls LOL.
