8iowa, was that in a sawdust session? I don't remember anything said about that, but there's so much out there.
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

There must be something in the air!

I was able to get a Mark-V-mount 1982 Planer this week locally. Normally on SPT's I like to get new stuff from Shopsmith, but the Planer is a little steep for that just now.

All the recent forum postings were very informative on de-mystifying the planer and its parts.

Only one other comment, having experienced some electrical certification work with U.S. gov't agencies that include the "UL listing." These fees can be substantial and can amortize out to a number of bucks per unit. It still does seem the speed-control parts listing is on the expensive side, maybe some arbitrary way of assigning large labor / overhead costs of the Shopsmith planer.
