Online ordering broken and not secure

Post by Beave2012 »

Just wanted to let you know not to use the online ordering. When I check out it auto fills in the form with the last order info.

So to Thunder*** William Try** at 15 Chappellridge ** (not going to give all the info here) with phone ending in 3716. I called SS to let them know, but all I got was the answering machine. Hopefully that is cryptic enough so only be and shopsmith can verify, but at least shopsmith knows this isn't fake.

I wanted to place an order for the planer table but not now. It really scares me if this is happening with all the other spring sale issues.

So when I went to check my order status from my personal link to my page the login looked like this:
ScreenHunter 40.jpg
ScreenHunter 40.jpg (84.5 KiB) Viewed 7552 times
I over wrote it and then log in to find my ordering information missing again. So no idea if my order has been processes or even if the system took it last night.

Perhaps the explanation is a simple one, I hope that they were not hacked and my charge card number stolen. It is pain to have to get a new number and then fix all the issues that causes. At least you are not responsible for charges but I will daily monitor my card to see if bogus charges appear.

Can't say I'm happy with shopsmith of late.

I wouldn't worry any more or less about Shopsmith's site ordering being secure than any other site you use. Nobody else has a site that is secure no matter what they say. Best Buy just announced a couple of days ago that they got hacked and lost customer personl data. We hear about it almost weekly from one site or another.
Nothing done online will ever be secure.

That is interesting. I did place an order early this morning and that info came up but I changed the info as we do not live at that address any more. I do not even know why my husband's name is listed. I do not think he ever ordered anything while we were living there as I id not and I was not able to have a shop there. My email address is correct but that is easy to find anyway. I am not even sure why my email address would be with his order info either.

I placed an order this morning and everything came up fine?

Some browsers have add-ins that can save/log ordering information, addresses, etc. are you sure you don’t have one of those enabled? If you want to check you can try the order screen in a different browser and see if you get the same results.

Even if I did, why would old info come up and on other people's computers? I have ordered a quite a few times since we moved and I order under my name not my husbands. On my laptop not his and both laptops were purchased after we moved so the address info would not be on them. The address has to be archived somewhere n their system and is being pulled up somehow.

I see the same persons data and I just over wrote it in an attempt to place an order. Since I was login in as me this seems really odd and is certainly not something stuck in my browser information but clearly at shopsmith's door.

Now that I have placed an order I wonder if my information will be on another persons page when they try to place an order. If so then there are serious problems happening.

While no site is truly safe some are better then others.

I was thinking about ordering some parts today but I think I'll wait a few days since I am not in a rush. Thanks for the heads up.

Brenda,
You might want to call Shopsmith, if you haven't already, since it is your information they are making available to everyone.
