Barred Owl in My Yard
It was only a week or so ago that reible posted a great horned owl photo and I noted that I had never seen one in the wild. This barred owl flew just about right over my head today and posed for this picture in my yard.

Nice picture. Wish we had a residence for them. Had a pair nesting in a drive thru enclosure. They sure kept the rodents in check. But, when we poured concrete for the floor and enclosed it, they left.

That is Algale's wonderful shot, Artie.

You are being watched!
Beware!
One of the YouTube channels on UFO's is suggesting that owls are really alien surveillance creatures. Alien assign certain individuals that they want watched and the Owls carry it out!

I think he wants you to build an owl perch on the bow of the slow boat. Now THAT would be a sight!
Re: Barred Owl in My Yard
That might well be a mom owl finally getting out of the nest for a while since the little ones can be on their own for longer periods. I'd look around for a hole in a tree that might be the nest.
I took about 100 pictures of the little ones in the tree I visit, first day to see them. I think there might be three in there nest, two for sure. I'll post some pictures later after I have some time to decide which ones.....
