SAFETY HAZARD on Powerpro upgrade

I have been told that my powerpro controller works fine. They said they are sending it back. That was over a week ago. They suggested that I take a video the next time that the machine won’t stop. Perhaps I can get a video of it chopping off my fingers.

How about just turning off the mechanical switch on the head stock. It should be just as easy and quick as pushing the off button on the panel.

Then the question becomes "does it behave normal after that power on reset"?

I have had this happen once with mine. As mentioned, I turned it off with the toggle. It has never happend again. I picture the controller as a small computer. Computers sometimes want to rule the world. With any power tool always keep in mind ways to shut them down. I don’t put myself in positions where i have to shut down in the middle of an operation,well almost never. That is never good.

Off topic but very related ,, keep this in mind when you see a semi truck or a car going down the road with no driver in the seat . give them plenty of space , space may be our safety switch.. Related to the power pro , I don't own one , however am interested in knowing more about them, do they have a reset switch? I have seen boards with the ability to reset the logic .

Restart is a more accurate description. I do not think the PP has a way other than power off/on.

I am surprised there isn't place on the touch pad that would do that ,Like Chris said about turning the power off ,I can see where that could be a issue for some one who doesn't know. glad you guys shared this info , I wonder if this information is in the manual ?

The logic board is not a "resettable" type of computer. When power is removed (unplugged or turned off is the same thing), the board goes dead. When power is turned back on, the program is just reloaded and it runs. There is no "OS" as we think of computers like a laptop or desktop. It is all just one set of instructions and they load every time power is applied.

Sarcasm may make you feel better but it won't help you resolve the problem and it certainly will not help you to get support from the ladies in CS.

When you do get your controller back and are putting it back in, check all of the cable connectors you make sure they are mated. Don't be surprised at all if your machine comes up and runs with no problems.

Did you bother to ask that "girl" in CS for a tracking number?

Just thinking out loud here.

Most all boards have some sort of logic chip on them .
It is what allows them to go from one mode to the next ,if not the thing would try to run multiple modes at once..
if the boards have any thing looking like this there is a logic chip / chips on the board

if turning the power off resolves the issue,,, a relay ,,or gate ,, on the board may have got hot and or just stuck ?

If 2 people here have experienced this then it could be a issue with a part on the board and not the board its self ?


I wonder of anything changed in the daily routine while in use, voltage drop , work load ,run time ,, any thing ?
