It looked like rain but I decided to take a chance anyway. Never did rain so I'm glad I did.
Let us start with a picture of the table after I had finished the cutting.

The other 4 hole pattern had a reason, it is set up to receive 3/8-16 carriage bolts. For some of you that will look familiar. Here is a shot with the bolts in use:

Of course after this next picture you will all know what uses that pattern and size of bolt.

Then there was the job of leveling it.......... glad I've had practice on this sort of thing.

So now I have a mini MFT that is shopsmith mounted. Should be useful. But that is not all it will be able to do. The shaper wants the tape to be on a level/flat surface and at the same height as the work piece. That is fine if you are working on a single surface but then comes the case where someone wants to use a tape board to save on the consumables. Many solutions but if you have a shopsmith then why not take advantage of the flexibility it offers.

So the main table can be used with the tape board and you can adjust it so the work piece on the MFT will be level with it. So say you want to work on a piece of hardwood that is say 13/16" thick, no problem. Next you have a piece of 1/4" plywood, well as we know the 1/4" is nominal and that actual dimensions will vary, again no problem.
For use with the SO I will try and protect the MFT surface by using a backer board. Besides if one went to deep and hit one of the recessed carriage bolts you would be kissing that router bit good bye.
I'm seeing this as a solution for smaller jobs, and I even could see a few refinements for another version but I want some time on the system before looking to build V2.
I also wanted to say the sketch up file made this a much faster process, many many times faster then the hand method, of course that is what is to be expected. I did mess up one of the mounting hole counter-bores. I did not have them in the file and miss-placed it by hand, picked the wrong line.... so another reason to do away with hand layouts and trust the tool. Good news was that it is so simple to use the same hole size but do an outside cut on a piece of scrap..........
Anyway I was well pleased with the results and look forward to many more jobs in the future.
