Jointer fence problem

Post by ArthurAndersen50 »

I must be doing something wrong. My new-to-me jointer fence will stop at all the necessary angles, but will not clamp down firmly on the horizontal guide bar. It will shift across the table easily when pushed/touched. Can anyone offer some hints as to what is going on? Thank you in advance.

The fence-adjustment handle is basically a double-sided wrench. If you push it in toward the jointer, it engages one clamp nut. If you pull it out, it engages a different clamp nut. I can't recall which is which, but one of the nuts clamps the fence angle, and the other clamps the fence to the slider rail.

Thank you very much. That solved the problem. Sometimes I feel that I am my own worst enemy. Thank you again for all the help.
