No power to MarkV w PP Upgrade
I upgraded my Mark V to Power Pro about 4 years ago. The system has been running great. Just last night went to turn it on--nothing, nothing at all. I checked the circuit breaker everything fine. I dissembled the headstock this morning thinking it maybe the switch (happened to me once before). In checking the continuity of the switch (power disconnected) it looks like the switch is bad, but I am not sure I am testing correctly. Black to black across the switch, red to red or red to black. Does it matter
Re: No power to MarkV w PP Upgrade
I rechecked the switch for continuity across both black and red poles, w switch off then on. Looks like the switch is working, get 0 ohms with the switch on. Not sure how to check Power Pro unit, or what the next troubleshooting steps should be. Welcome your advice.

Does the manual not provide some troubleshooting guidelines?

Check continuity from the power plug to the switch leads.

Be sure the connectors to the control panel are, um, connected. Those blocks don't have a positive locking feature.
Re: No power to MarkV w PP Upgrade
Assuming your switch is connected by only two wires.
Note - They are attached to one side of the switch.
If this is the case (which it is on mine) the only thing you have to do to fix the switch is to connect the two wires to the other side of the switch.
It doesn't matter which wire goes on top or bottom of the other side.

Re: No power to MarkV w PP Upgrade
I have reviewed all the SS troubleshooting documentation for the ProPro Head unit. It is all very basic, assumes your are getting one of a number of error codes on the digital control display. There are no electrical trouble shooting guidelines. The switch is connected with four leads. Getting to the switch requires dissembling the entire head unit. Which I did. Checking the continuity across the switch both on the off and on position shows the switch is functional. Have attempted to check continuity across the motor and power supply unit. Do this by contacting various combinations of the pins. Looks like motor is fine. Appears to be an issue with power supply. Have contacted SS Tech service. No reply as of yet. I guess there is but one engineer that can help with such technical issues and you can not talk with him directly.
If anybody has any other insights or suggestions I am all ears.

I would say it is time to give Shopsmith technical service a call as indicated in your manual. Make sure you have continuity from the plug through the cord to the switch.
Re: No power to MarkV w PP Upgrade
Have checked continuity of the power cord and it is OK. Have talked w SS Tech Service-looks like power supply needs to be replaced. They are quality control checking new power supply and will send a new one to me ASAP. I have sent my old power supply to SS so that they can verify issue is in fact with the power supply
