More Splitter Alignment Problems

Post by wdelliott »

Thanks everyone. I'm experiencing splitter alignment problems also, except my splitter is to the left of the blade, by about 1/4th inch. I'll try the adjustment screw.

I have to make a complete guess here WD, but it sounds that you may have the wrong arbor, or it isn't fully seated.

Hi;
Is the quill fully retracted? Did someone put a washer of some sort on the arbor?
Is the circle clip and the rubber spacer installed on the quill.
The quill should have a rubber washer installed on the headstock side of the circle clip and if this part is missing it will cause the quill to retract further than normal causing a misalignment of the splitter.
Is the blade guard fully seated on the quill?
Is the proper spacer installed on the way tubes? This spacer provides a register for the table carriage to stop at the correct position. It also prevents metal to metal contact between the table carriage and the headstock casting. Is the stop the correct one and is it undamaged and of the correct length?
Just a few things to consider.
Bill
