Mark V - Model 500 Miter gauge lock screw

Post by jth737 »

Anyone know thread spec's for the lock screw ? My miter gauge lock screw was missing on arrival. The threads in the bar appeared to be 5/16 X 24 however that set screw won't lock the bar !

Thanks :-)

I believe the set screw is tapered, not a common part. You can get one from Shopsmith , reference 279, part #501401.

It is tapered so good luck finding one locally. If you got it from shopsmith then give them a call they should be able to get you one. If you got it second hand then you might well want to order it from them:

SS is your best source.

The thread is 1/8" NPT which is 27 tpi.

You need correct od + correct threads + 5/32 hex socket + short length.

I really think the mother ship is the ONLY source.

P.S. For those with worn threads, a paper shim around the bar works well.
