New project
I'm on a mission from God, my better half. She drew some photos of a Christmas train she wants as a decoration. I have begun the construction of the four cars she wanted and have the engine left. She is not quite sure what she wants but knows what she doesn't want. The attached photos are of her drawings and what is almost what she wants. Still subject to alteration. She is still trying to decide and find what she want to go in them. All parts including the wheel were made from scratch after many prototypes. Tried some spoked wheels and got close but the small drill bits kept following the grain are drifting. She decided to give up on that idea. She couldn't find any, on line, that were acceptable. When finished I'll post photos.

Gale's Law: The bigger the woodworking project, the less the mistakes show in any photo taken far enough away to show the entire project!

Thanks, the bear will be the engine. I consider myself somewhere between a framing carpenter and a finish carpenter and a wannabe woodworker. As with most of us we are our own harshish critic. One of the things I struggle with is what I want the engine to look with and what my better half wants. She doesn't always realize the a two dimensional drawing is not as hard as a three dimensional wooden project. Especially for someone with a limited skill set. Thank God for the finish sanders and band saw.

SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.
