The Above 10E is sn 8873 and the 10ER is R45738

Both for a $175.00 and each has a speed changer. Far too far away for me from early vintages I seek below sn 1000.

This could be a pretty complete set with documentation. Value is there with the speed changers alone, but each needs restoring and rust removal.

Your survey updated from Skip's and mine do not have a serial number lower than 1032 or 1036 respectively. This has made me believe that the first 250 units sent to Montgomery Ward stores were serial numbers 1001 to 1250 or very close to that.

As far as I have been able to determine that is correct. 1000 and forward, but I am seeking anything below 1000 at all times to validate it remains a true belief.

My 10E sn 1414 was part of the first 1500 machines or first 500 based on which number they started with.

Your 10E sn 1077 would have been part of the first 1100 machines or part of the first 100 as would 1032 and 1036 you mentioned above.

Only in Australia where they stamped their own serial numbers have we seen the lower numbers, and those were stamped with a different size number / letter stamp (smaller font) than Shopsmith ever used in America in any of their plants here.

I keep looking at serial numbers for U.S. machines everywhere I have found them, but none appear below 1000 so far. If your 1077 has the back metal badge with no serial number (as they used on early Demonstrators) then we can continue to presume that nothing was below 1000, as they did not have a thousand demonstrators and machines that early in 1947. We know the brass locks were discontinued very early. Yours has them, and mine has them suggesting they were the first generation models after the prototype made from a 3rd party recycled drill press headstock used in the patent application.

Here is a real bargain. A 10ER speed changer on eBay for $90 buy it now. It has not been welded and does not appear to be cracked anywhere. I have never seen one that cheap. The normally go for $150 or more.

Brand new SS planer stand, never assembled on eBay. At $275 I don't know if it is a bargain but since they are not available any more and this is a very rare listing it may be the only chance of getting one if someone needs one. Also $38 shipping is very reasonable IMO.

Here is a 510 in good shape with bandsaw, jointer, and a few extras for the bandsaw too. Seems like a great deal for all that's included for $500. Also lisa of individual accessories available in the area like strip Sanders bandsaw, etc... good time in mn I'd you need SPTs.
