I am attempting to replace the bearings on a 1 1/8 GE motor.
However I have run across something new. I am used to seeing a milled seat on the shaft.
On this spindle there appears to be a snap ring.
Is that correct? or is it there to act as a seat for the bearing and is not to be removed?
This "snap ring" blocks the inner ring of the bearing. so am I suppose to sacrifice the bearing in order to remove it? thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Ha, ha, I know a guy who didn't see the little ears on the OEM snap-ring and bent it whilst pulling the bearing. He was able to find a suitable replacement at ACE. Don't ask me how I know this guy.....
