Life Size Nutcracker

Post by Lodgepole »

A friend of mine wants me to turn him a life size nutcracker. I have come across various designs on the internet that look doable. But, I am concerned that the maximum diameter that I can turn versus the height will make it look out of proportion. Please note that if I go this route I will turn the nutcracker in 2-3' pieces that I will join with a tenon.

After more consideration, I think a 4' tall nutcracker would have better proportions.

Any additional ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

weight on completion might be a issue ? what type of lumber ? might have to do it in pieces that come apart for transport and storage?
