The only wasted vote is the one that is not cast. Vote what you believe BUT VOTE.

I understand that point of view, but, when there is no candidate that meshes with one's own perspectives, voting for something else is pointless. That amounts to supporting a conflicting agenda.

This is why IMO primaries are more important than elections. Usually there are more candidates with more varying platforms to chose from.

I worked the polls at the local church. The night before, a truck took out a power pole, and the church was without power until 2 hours before opening. One of the more paranoid members of our precinct thought it was a plot from the (locally) minority political party.

Another citizen yelled at the utility crew members who had one of the streets blocked off, making access to the polls slightly inconvenient. I guess he thought the electrical lines should've been left on the pavement until voting was over.

But, the rest of the 1,821 people who voted were perfectly fine. The most endearing were the young, obviously first-time voters.
