Importance of dust controll

From left to right:
1st intake filter, 2nd intake filter then rear diffuser.
Far right is a new filter for comparison.
These are out of a home made ceiling filter that uses an old wood stove blower.

I change the 1st filter every 6-8 months at least. The 2nd at about this much when needed and this is the first I've changed the diffuser in 5 years.

The 'diffuser' an output filter?
Not a filter. It is used to diffuse the air stream out of the blower. My JDS and Powermatic ceiling mounted air filters use what looks like a large Scotch Brite pad for the diffuser. They are about 1/2" thick and less dense than a Scotch Bright pad. It provides a nice gentle air stream out of the blower and into the shop.

I guess I would say that if your diffuser is getting dirty your input filters are not doing the job.

Yes, I just use a 3rd filter on the output side. Otherwise the squirlcage blower shoots a jet out the back.
