Model E Serial #E-3356 Tailstock taper?
I have a Model E Shopsmith and am interested in acquiring a live center tailstock. Question : What is the taper for the tailstock? I removed and measured the deadcenter and the taper is approx. 0.68" to 0.60" over length of 1.5" that doesn't appear to be a Morse Taper #2. So would a MT2 fit this model or is there an adapter?

Yes, all Shopsmith tail-stock's, from the 10E to the present, are 2Morse taper,

Over 1.5" that is 0.749.
When measuring one really needs to get more than three decimal places.
Rest assured an OEM SS tail stock socket IS MT2.
