E-Mail Hassle

If anyone tries to switch from Century Link to any other ISP Century Link does NOT permit copying any E-Mail or contact list from their site to any other. According to any info I could find on the net they are the only carrier that does this. So, if you have Century Link and want to switch, good luck!!
I had to print all the lists and retype everything in to the new system. Real PITA!!

I ran into this a dozen years ago. I copied them to a CSV file and then imported that into my new provider. I don't remember the steps I took but you can do an internet search.

If you are using decent email software, you can simply export the information from one provider setup to another. Do what db5 suggests. It should do the job.

If you want a truly excellent ISP for email I can highly recommend xmission.com. They are an independent ISP based in Salt Lake City, UT and still run by the founder Pete Ashdown. He started the company in 1993 when we were all on dial up. Sometime in early 1994 they offered an 800 number so I could dial in at no cost from Ogden(35 miles north). I signed up since it was the only other option at the time except for AOL which I was on.

I can not recommend them enough. The service is rock solid. I get my internet connection (25MB) from Rise Broadband via a small dish on the roof. No DSL here and I have DirecTV so no cable.

Xmission is totally committed to an open internet and you can read your mail on their web site or on your local computer with any email program you choose.

Cost? If you pay yearly it is $168. That is just under $13 a month. I can't remember when they had a price increase. It has been at least 10+ years.
