Hardwood Flooring
I have been making segmented bowls from solid oak hardwood flooring. It seems harder than wood I have purchased by the board foot. Is there a difference in the flooring as compared to clear oak? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry
Re: Hardwood Flooring
Hardwood oak flooring is normally made from red oak , most oak at the big box is white oak .

Bur oak wood is durable and of high quality. It is used for cabinetry, barrels, hardwood flooring and fence posts. Native Americans used bur oak to treat heart ailments, diarrhea, broken bones, and as an astringent (to close bleeding wounds).
