IIRC, the thread size of the adapter/insert chuck is larger than 1 1/4" as that is the largest thread gauge I have.

Again, I understand that it is 1X8. I ask again, what is the "standard" (Non 30th Anniversary) G3 thread size?

I had to ask that of them and I think I posted it here somewhere. Since their lathes take a M33 something I'm think that is about it. Got some other stuff to do but I'll see if I can find my post later.

It seems to be a closely guarded secret. The largest internal thread sized adapter is 1 1/4. The blank says max is 1 1/8.

So it likely is 1 1/2" or larger outer thread(internal on the chucks).

M33 seems small.

Assuming standard thread size, I think M36 would be the smallest it could be.

We also to not know if the thread is course...fine.

OK, I understand. I thought the G3 had a standard thread and then they made adapters for other sizes. It appears that is not true. I finally found it although not the standard G3 thread size which really does not matter.

So forget the "bargain". Sorry for the misinformation. I guess I put too much faith in Teknatool.

Do realize the thread size on their midi lathe is 1 -8.

Well no luck finding my post, but I know it is here somewhere. I did find references to 1-1/2 8tpi so it could be that is is. They sell lathes with several size spindles and depending on which country you are in you will get different ones.

Also note that they sell chucks that are designed for inserts and some that aren't. So while shopping you have to look close at what you are wanting vs what they have on sale.

I have thread gauges so if it ever warms up I can measure the pitch and it should be pretty clear if it is imperial or not.
