I found my original chisels and the other parts for my attempt at a scoop. I was thinking I hadn't messed around with my lathe for over 40 years. I forgot everything and went back to the instruction manual and book that came with my SS. I had a piece of mahogany I used and put some dowels in for interest and because I knew I couldn't get too fancy with the chisels and shape. Here are two photos. I will be trying it as soon as the finish dries.

Am I happy with the SS as lathe ? Answer is yes. If I wasn’t I would buy another one. I have been turning on one for many years and so far haven’t had a project it would not turn either large or small. I have turned some very large pieces with great success. With the advent of the Power Pro along with the heavy duty tool rest it does everything I have ever asked of it so I can’t come up with a reason to buy a different lathe. IMHO it isn’t the lathe that makes good turnings, it’s the turner. The dust collection thing works pretty well. Nothing gets all the dust on a lathe but that one does pretty well.
