I use a Long Ranger switch from Penn State Industries to turn my dust collector on and off. It works great. I did modify it by installing a 120 volt neon light on top of the wall mount part as an indicator that the plug was hot. I don't like surprises.

I have an echo dot in my shop but using with the shop vac was OK for turning it on but not for turning it off. Too much noise and it not being right there just doesn't work well. I did come up with a solution which was the addition of a small remote for the dot. It is hand held and by pushing a button and talking into the remote you can control things in a noisy environment. Yes like watching TV and wanting to turn lights on or off and the like.
The added problem with voice devices to this point is that once you put on a a dust mask or face shield then your voice will be muted at best. So do you take this stuff off to talk? Well that is another subject.
Since a lot of people here have not upgraded to the powerpro it hard to explain the fact that it is not just the on/off function buttons which one must use but very often the confirm button (rpm above 1500 require this) it is also access to the chart which requires accessing menus which require other functions like the up/down arrows etc.
The main table by itself is not too bad but if you butt a floating table to the left side then it becomes a game of twister to see the display. As I explained it is pretty simple to leave a gap between tables to view through so that is how I get around this.
A remote would really be nice when using the scroll saw. Especially if you are sitting and can't reach the display as easily, that may be a length of reach issue more then what everyone sees, but I know it is an issue for me.
And again as I mentioned having a functional device to operate dust collection is great especially since the tool and collector may not be co-located. But of course everyone works differently so if you have something that is working for you just keep on doing it, if you want to try something new then do that. I tend to like to try new things so enough said.
