Planer feed motor conversion

Post by PaulO »

I converted my defective feed motor so it can be used with a 3/8 Chuck variable speed drill. If anyone is interested you can call me or text me at 717-578-7776, or get in touch with me through this forum. Shopsmith is not making planners because they don't have anyone to manufacture motors for them, so if you're interested give me a call or text.

Just to set the record straight, the above statement is not true. First the SS mounted planer is still listed in the catalog. Second, the company that makes the feed motors for the SS planers is still in business. The company is Vonweise and the link is http://www.vonweise.com/.

We had a big fact finding discussion about this back in September 2018. Here is the link to that thread...

There is also a company (not Vonwiese) that will rewind the rotor for the SS motor. It is listed in the above thread.
