Bearing Issues?

I just had my motor rebuilt and installed it back in my MK V. When I went to use it (in lathe mode) it seemed like the quill was running rough and started to get a hint of smell like something was getting hot. I let it sit for a day and tried again and it didn't sound right and was rough running. Did I install the motor incorrectly and forget to adjust something? Or is my quill bearing going bad? What should I be looking for?

Check motor belt alignment.

You could remove the quill and then do a test run to determine whether the quill is the source of that noise.

Since you just changed out the motor, I would suspect something related to the motor (like a belt or belt alignment).

Remove the motor belt and run the motor to further eliminate the possible cause.

Okay, belt alignment makes sense to me. I will check that. There was no issue and it ran smooth before I pulled the motor and now runs rough and doesn't sound good right after reinstalling it. So that makes perfect sense to me. i know the motor itself runs smooth as I ran it after I got it back before installing it. So its not the motor.

So how does one adjust the belt alignment? and are we talking the poly V belt? I didn't mess with that.
