iPhone struggle

Post by everettdavis »

For the last hour or two my iPhone has struggled to complete an email send. It just jittered and hung. Could not even power it off. Reapplied an update just now after it finally did reset.

You would never know it had a problem now.

Go figure.

Yeah, I have had this as well on more than one generation of iPhone. It doesn't happen often (email not sending), but when it does the only fix that I have found is power off then power back on. For the other problem (screen unresponsive), it can be really annoying. I miss the home button. Sometimes the iPhone cpu seems to get overloaded or in an unstable state where screen touches are not registered for a long time. It may resolve itself if you leave it alone for a few minutes and then it comes back to life. Other times, the only fix is to connect a cable to it and try connecting it to iTunes, which may bring it back to life. If all else fails, forcing an iOS update and/or restoring from backup should fix it.

On iphones prior to the 8 holding all three side buttons down for 10 seconds or so would force a reboot of the phone which solved most problems.
Holding all three buttons on an iPhone 8 will call emergency services. To force a restart on an iPhone 8, Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Then, press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Finally, press and hold the Side button (aka power) until you see the Apple logo.

I don't have an iPhone X or 11 so I don't know how to do a hard reset on those.
Thanks much,

If you have the arm for it, try for a 40 yard pass. That solves all iphone problems. :)

The last update was a little buggy, now at 13.2.3, not how apple should work but hey.

For many Iphone users, there is more than a struggle to deal with. Apple has admitted to "probably illegal" use of the data from your phone.
