Menard's just for fun, this years project saving for Nov.

Post by reible »

Back last January I decided that what ever rebates I got from the Menard's store I would save up and then use in November. They often have a 11% off sale and they send a rebate card with the 11% for you to use at their stores. I try to make my purchases count by taking advantage of those sales.

So along came the cold winds of November and not only did I use my cards for all of the purchases in November I have also used them so far this month. Heading there tomorrow for a few things and not only will I use my cards I will also be getting an additional 11% off and will have that for more purchases this year or perhaps to start saving for next November.

I know it kind of crazy but I also find it fun.

I don't have the willpower to save them up. I redeem them as fast as they arrive in the mail, but that really does cut down on costs.

We don't have Menard's here but I use my America First credit card for everything on line and other large purchases. I pay it off every month but it earns enough points so I can get a $100 Home Depot gift card whenever the last one runs out. So I get about 5% back on the credit card and 10% military discount when I purchase. That works for me.

I really miss my Menards since moving from Minnesota to Arizona. All I have near me is HD.
I miss the 11% sale, Sales seasonal sales ads with dfferent items spaced throughout the year so you can kinda plan purchases for the future.
Now I have to drive to Flagstaff 40 miles away and pay considerably more for a 4x8 sheet of oak plywood 'cause HD doesn't stock it; special order only and it would be near the same price as Flagstaff lumber yard anyway.
OK, done with my rant; feel better now.

I agree. Menards stocks a lot of hardwood and hardwood plywood.

We had a Home Depot here, but they folded fast when they hired employees who didn't speak English. Doing business that way, they couldn't compete with Menards.

We also have a Lowes, but they don't stock much hardwood like Menards does so I end up at Menards about 90% of the time.

I feel that Menards is a real lumberyard and contractor supplier while Lowes is more of a home decorating store. If you want a new lamp, go to Lowes. If you want a sheet of oak plywood, go to Menards.
