A nice find

Found this at an estate sale. It was being run by a company consisting of all women. They had it priced at $8.50. I jumped on it!!! The rod seen in front closes the opening if you don't like an open throat. Not shown is the edge guide.

Also picked up a Bailey #5. For $4.50. No masks involved.

That is one of those tool I have been unable to find a bargain on and I have long loved good planes. Every time I find a router plane the seller thinks it is gold plated.

I bought one of them about 15 years ago. I don't think mine was ever used. It is absolutely in new condition. The Stanley tag says made in Sheffield England.

Yours looks to be in similar condition. That is an unbelievable find at that price. I don't remember what I paid for mine but it was way more than $8.50. As I remember it was over $100 but I don't remember how much over.

John, mine only has one edge guide. Do your blades have inch or mm markings?

The foot on the rod help keep the plane from rocking forward when you push , I picked up one from a swap meet years ago and use to use it a lot . be sure to clamp the board solid , looks like a nice assortment of cutters. not all cutters are marked .

The cutters have inch markings. Your main casting says Made in USA and mine says Made in Eng.
