A report was posted at the ssusers yahoo site that John had passed way on Friday. If so a truly great man is gone but I was hoping that we could get conformation on this before we start a posting of condolences to his family and the Shopsmith family...

You will notice that Robert (Bob) Folkerth is the President of Shopsmith and is the son of John Folkerth. It would appear that both John and David has passed on to a better life.

Folkerths
John had three sons...JR the oldest is an attorney in Dayton, Middle son Bob (Robert) took over Shopsmith, Youngest son David probably about 40 years old can't remember exactly. John may have passed away... I had a third party call today from an insider that said so but still not totally confirmed.
David I just saw not more than three weeks ago.

We owe much to John Folkerth. Thanks to for his hard work, sacrifice, and entrepreneurship, thousands of us have been introduced to woodworking. This includes some big names in the industry like Marc Adams, who has one of the country's premier woodworking schools. Folkerth undoubtedly also had significant influence on our own Nick Engler's career.
For my own small part, having purchased my Shopsmith in '83, The camaradere in woodworking between my son and I cannot be measured merely in board feet. Someday, Lord willing, when I cross that eternal stream, I hope to thank him personally.
